We currently have an opening for a leader to perform quality functions at our Cullman, AL location. The position will assure that AHT quality systems are being followed and play a large part of driving change and improvement within the QMS. This person will also have some special duties of reviewing paperwork before shipping to special customers, taking the lead on identifying (and gathering) teams to address customer OFI's and help establish rerun/restart metrics to drive improvement. This position requires frequent auditing of processes. In this leadership support position, the qualified applicant will report to the Corporate Quality Systems Manager, with dotted line responsibilities to Cullman Plant Operations.
Basic Job Responsibilities
- Ability to display AHT core values of PASSION, TEAMWORK, INTEGRITY, LOYALTY, PROFESSIONALISM AND SERVICE.
- Assist in general quality activities including control of quality records, monitoring quality objectives at all levels, implement, monitor and help maintain the QMS.
- Understand, create, and upkeep QMS plant documentation with a special emphasis on creating documentation to support customer and internal audit activities, and certifications to external customer requirements.
- Lead and participate in Root Cause Correction Action (RCCA) efforts for Opportunities for Improvement (OFI's) to internal and external customers with customer communications as required.
- Promote continuous improvement by coordinating action on continuous improvement suggestions, customer issues including performing or coordinating root cause analysis, coordinating the corrective action, and leading/ participating in team problem solving activities. Lead and manage employee suggestion programs for the facility and drive suggestions to closure using a team approach.
- Administers the deployment of AHT's continuous improvement program and lean initiatives at Monroe by leading, directing, supporting, coordinating, training and promoting that philosophy by utilizing Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma and/or Value Stream Mapping activities.
- Perform new employee testing as required by Quality Management System.
- Conduct and complete customer supplier audits and lead customer visits when required.
- Manage and drive calibrations to closure by making sure responsible areas get calibrations completed, approved, and closed.
- Works with other management team members (Metallurgy/ Operations/ Sales/ Quality Teams) to identify key or high potential process improvements and RCCA solutions.
- Project manage high level/ technical programs (assigned as needed)
- Learn and lead PPAP for plant on new programs and part introduction. Learn and perform CQI-9 audits and customer submittals as required.
- Serves as a key auditor for monthly safety walk-throughs
- Learn lab release process to understand, make improvements, and support when required
Education/Experience BA/BS degree or equivalent experience with quality specific experience
Previous leadership in Lean Manufacturing and Quality ASQ, CQT or CQE a plus
Heat Treat Experience a plus Knowledge and application of GD&T principles
Experience in ISO/TS 16949 standards, FFL and ITAR quality requirements
Strong knowledge of problem solving tools
Self-motivated and an advocate of continuous improvement, with focus on efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
Prior experience with safety/environmental compliance a plus
Ability to drive tasks to completion while meeting quality and schedule targets
Excellent oral and written communication, including the use of Microsoft products
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and report progress to management High level attention to detail.
